I remember when these cameras came out, I was in middle school and man they were cool! I never owned a Mavica of any flavor and the untested eBay lot I purchased had a couple of them, this one being a little newer with the 4mp sensor. YES..4 MEGAPIXELS haha.
I spent a long time cleaning this camera up, getting the batteries to work and unfortunately this one is on its last leg I think. The optical sensor & mechanism isn't working the way it should, sometimes you have to hit it and do the "Mavica flip" to get the camera to read the disk and let you record photos. It was frustrating to say the least but when I managed to get it to work, it sure was a blast shooting with it and I'm very impressed by the output. The photos look amazing! I understand why people really loved the Mavica cameras. The worst part was getting the photos off the CD. I don't have a CD drive so I had to rely on a windows laptop, my macbook didn't like the Mavica. But Windows 11 had no issues seeing it and let me transfer the files off albeit at a very..very slow rate due to the dying optical sensor. Took nearly an hour.
So here are the photos from this neat camera. I'm glad I was able to give it another chance at life.
