This is the first I’ve seen one. I was surprised to learn hey are shore birds that apparently breed in the grassy desert.

Nice bird. Similar to our UK specimens with yeah, a longer bill.

I wonder if it has the same haunting call as ours. Nothing better than hearing a Curlew call on a highland moor on a darkening summer evening.

I’m not sure about the call. I only saw it that one time and didn’t hear it.
