What's new

Look what I found at Wal Mart!

Yea I've seen those before. I always thought it would be funny to get a bunch of friends to all pitch in and buy one and have it sent to another friend as a joke.

And you can have it delivered right to your door!

In other mail order news, we won't be getting the ikea couch we had in mind - they want $350 for shipping, and the closest ikea is in Calgary. Not driving 8+ hours for a couch.

Grrrr. This stupid couch thing is getting way out of hand. Thanks to my stupid apartment, we are limited to only those that come apart.

So buy one of the Wide Bodies posted above... lean it against the wall! Instant Recliner! Stylish too!

well that just cut my eventual, by a lot..wife would never agree to a pine box..I'd go for the pyre..but you know the gal's.
I just can't see why folks want to make so much of the envelope, when the contents are gone..IMHO...Ed

When we were at the funeral parlor making arrangements for my mothers body, the funeral director (salesman) was trying to sell us the hermetically sealed outer casket thing. He was insistent we needed it. I asked "Why? It's not like we're gonna dig her up in ten years and invite her to dinner." His response was "you never know."

My sister held back her laughter. My grandmother was appalled.

You know... in case of zombies. Although concrete would be much cheaper...

This entire market is just fascinating! Before the internet, this isn't something you'd have a lot of access to until you needed it. But now, the whole world of the burial industry is wide open in all it's tastelessness.

Yeah. I learned something new today too. Thanks!

One pound of body weight before cremation yields 1 cubic inch of ash.

Coincidentally, I am currently making 3 silver keychain "capsules", to hold some ashes for someone.
I get to handle the ashes.

No 30-day satisfactory period?

I suppose this casket retail thingy pisses a lot of funeral service providers. Not that I know any of this myself, I'd think the service providers make a good profit while trying to sell caskets as a part of the service, much like how a car repair shop sells you the part with the service. When you take the hardware away from the service, there's less room to stretch the margin.

I've actually read of warranties. Pretty sure whoever is bonding them must be thinking that this is the BEST INVESTMENT OF ALL TIME.

I mean, seriously. Who's going to dig up a casket and ask for a refund?

Would it be improper for me to start a funeral registry?

Oh it would be for myself. But I'm planning on donating my body to science, so I was thinking that they could just fill the coffin with a cheese and crackers and those little hot dogs that you put tooth picks in and use it as a buffet.

Oh.. the already embalmed food! You should throw in a couple of Macdonalds cheeseburgers also.... they never go bad!
