Looking for a book on photography

Hello,

I am looking for a good book on photography to get my brother for Christmas. I am not looking for an instruction book on how to take shots but rather one that is simply has a photo and than gives the information on how the shot was taken. He currently likes the first few pages in Discover magazine where there is a cool photo and than a small caption listing:

• The type of camera was used
• Which lense and filter combination
• Camera settings
• Post Processing information if any

I have found several books of just photos and even more books of instructions on how to take shots but none with just the simple of what was used for the photos displayed.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I think that book is exactly what Jon does not want. I was thinking maybe one of the national geographic books would be good, but I doubt they give the camera used, etc...

I would recommend this one...it gives an image, describes the settings and the tip. Plus, Rick Sammon has an infectious enthusiasm for photography.
