Okay, that photodynasty was said to be a scam, so i've been searching for a d80 kit under 850 USD. however, there are way too many lens abbreviations, enough to make your head spin! af- ed- vr(vib. reduct, i know that one) - dx - ir

can someone help me out? its a step up from a p&s for me. i primarily like "city/urban" shots, portraits, sports/action, and macros. however i don't know what i should be getting. can someone help sum these up in a nutshell, and what would be best for me?

I don't wanna come off as "lazy" you know, but i am stumped by all these lens types. i would think that nikon would have a letter class for their wide-angle/macro-closeup/zoom/telephoto. all i know is that VR=good.

any help is appreciated.

First of all at least 3 of the websites you listed are scammers. Check the reviews about them on www.resellerratings.com. If the price looks too good to be true it usually is. I would have a look at reputable dealers such as Adorama and B&HPhoto (links at the top of this page BTW) and see what fits your budget in terms of lenses and maybe rethink your choice of body.

Just go through either B&H or Adorama. There's links at the upper right, and they'll always have just about the best LEGIT prices out there. For 850 USD you'd probably only be able to get it with the 18-55 lens which is good enough to start off with.

whoa back to reality i fall. the prices are so different, good thing i didn't fall for a bait and switch. i totally didn't think about the no address listed, thanks a lot!

(d60 here i come, lol.)
