I am leaving on vacation in two weeks and i think i should buy a decend ps waterpoof that my wife could keep in her bag once we come
back.
something we could bring in the pool, boats, on a seadoo, snorkling and in the shower of course hahahah

budjet is around 200-250.

any personal experiences with some recent models?

There are not many on the market, my son had the Pentax which was OK, now he has the Panasonic which is also OK. He's just back from a week snow skiing and took some excellent videos with it, both on ski and in the swimming pool.
One advice, get a silicone protection if you want it to be floor proof when it falls.
With either one you wont go wrong for the purpose while I would prefer this type of camera to go a bit deeper than five meters.

I was looking at the panasonic lumix dmc-ts10, seems like its not bad.
leica lens,
iso 80 to 1600 and high iso from 1600-6400
only has Program mode but whatever, its a ps.

for 200 specs are not bad.

I had an Olympus that worked great (P&S). I got it on sale for $100 when it was discontinued and although it's not really a fantastic camera it works perfectly even underwater and can stand a 5ft drop without a problem.

I bought my wife the sony cybershot tx-5 last year. It's a good p&s camera with a lot of features such as panorama mode but may not fit your needs as it's only waterproof to 10 feet. We've used it in the pool and at disney world (including water parks) this past summer.

I've used a Canon D10 for the past two years, mainly as a waterproof camera to use while I do sea kayaking. It's been a witness to at least several hundred rolls, and I've had it down to about ten feet under water or so (no, wasn't in the kayak at the time). I take it with me while cross-country skiing, and it's been working great. Picture quality is very good, the zoom is 3x (ok but not great), and the noise level above ISO 100 starts to be visible, so it's mainly a sunny-day camera. On the other hand, it's been knocked about, drowned, frozen, dumped into surf, dropped onto icy snow, and aside from a few nicks and other battle scars, it still performs great.
