Photos NOT OK to edit
I want to get a tripod, but am quite restricted in terms of budget. Since I travel a lot, weight and size really are important for me. It won't be used often, just some landscapes and night shots, so only in wide angle, I don't have a tele anyway. My Canon 1000D with the 18-55mm IS kit lens weighs about 650g, which isn't really much more than some of the more advanced P&S cameras. That's why I don't think I really need a heavy duty tripod.

Now I know what you guys think about cheap tripods. But I've already used a $20 Hama Star 75 for a year or so with the 400D I had, and it wasn't actually that bad. Of course it wasn't rock solid, but the photos were always as sharp as the poor kit lens could take.

So there are a couple cheap tripods I've found:

Hama Star 75 Tripod With free Carry Case: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics - this is the one I've used, like I said it's not rock solid but I was pretty happy with it
Amazon.com: Slik Compact-XL Compact Travel Tripod: Camera & Photo

Amazon.com: SLIK U 2000 - Tripod: Camera & Photo

Velbon Camera Tripod CX-200 - this one could be bought a lot cheaper, giving the link just for the specs

I must admit I've seen the Velbon CX-200 in a local store and like it quite a lot. But it's 10cm longer when folded than the Hama, which actually makes a big difference, since I was able to keep the hama in my backpack when traveling.

But I am just wondering - do the entry level tripods really differ in terms of quality? Or are they all just the same stuff with different stickers on? Could you recommend anything, or perhaps point me in a good direction?
