Looking for good photo management / editing software

From a guy that's still using Elements 7, its worth an upgrade. I have heard good things about thumbslus. If my budget was not really tight I have been leaning towards lightroom.

Oh yes an important feature of ThumbsPlus. If you store pictures on CDs, DVDs or BluRay or remote disks, you can still make a set of thumbnails for each disk when mounted in your computer, and view the thumbnails without having to remount the disk each time. Saves putting each disk back in the computer when searching for particular pictures.
