looks like transcend screwed me...

well i just bought there 32gb CF blue card 400x, and well its crap. shooting files are just fine. go to delete them on your computer when you delete one it closes windows explorer and the memory card is no where to be found until you plug it back in.

card was formatted in the camera.

i have had a 32 gig transcend blue sdhc card for a while now and its never gave me any problems, sucks when you have much better reliability with a much cheaper sd card.

guess i should have listened to a few of the reviews and not tried to save half as much. i guess i will just drop double the money on a sandisk.

strange maybe its the card reader, doesnt seem to do it when i connect through the camera, but i really dont like doing that. i like card readers, i guess this targus one is no good. i guess if i buy a transcend card reader then there is no excuse for it not working.

edit: just ordered a transcend usb 3 card reader on ebay. well at least i get to take advantage of my usb3 MB now...

i guess word to the wise, dont buy a targus card reader... back to walmart it goes, never fails they even the smallest things you cannot buy locally, guess i just have to order everything.

Personally, I only copy the photos to the PC from the card reader then do a reformat in camera to clear the card. I've screwed up the formatting too many times on the card by deleting from the PC. It can be reformatted in camera again, but sometimes if the formatting gets messed up too much, it throws an error and the camera can't even reformat it. Then it's time to open up the HEX editor, write all zeros to the card and try again. What a PIA.

The early smartmedia cards were notorious for this. Haven't had any problems with SD cards in my new camera since I only copy from the reader.

I've ran into this issue a couple of times from not only deleting, but formatting from my PC as well. I've also ran into instances after formatting from PC that it will crop and show my images double like misaligned film.

+1 as always use that method. Also wouldn't hook up camera directly to computer for transfer either. For me it would be an accident waiting to happen. And read others that left the setup sitting then pulled off computer table by themselves,kids,Cat,etc... Also drains the camera battery faster that way.

Always a ritual for me transfer images then remove from card reader and insert in camera and do a format right then. As if start working on images then forget the card is in the reader. Or if I don't format when I inserted it in the camera. Then would forget I didn't format it.

When I bought my 60D I had to switch over to SDHC cards. I've always had good luck with Sandisk cards, so I stayed with them. But I bought a cheapo reader at Walmart. It read the card fine...the first time, and all the photos were transferred to my computer. Then I deleted the photos from the card while still attached to my computer. Went out and took some more pictures. No matter what I tried, I could not read that card again with that reader. Bought a Sandisk card reader...it read flawlessly.

Two lessons learned...the hard way:
1-Stay with Sandisk cards
2-Reformat the card in the camera ONLY after I have COMPLETED all picture processing on my computer. That way I have an emergency backup in case I delete the wrong picture(s).
