Hey all can you tell what do you think of the lowepro flipside 400aw please..

Thanks..

if asking for opinions at least give a link to the darn thing... Flipside 400 AW Camera bags, backpacks and rolling cases

i have the flipside 300. if you configure it right it holds my ff body, 24-70, 70-200, 100 macro, UWA, nifty-fifty, flash, black rapid strap/charger/extra crap, and tripod in the carrying strap... i like the bag, i really like the ability to keep almost everything in one (portable) place. i think that type of versitility is invaluable for traveling (especially with flying where bag # limits play a role). I like the internal zipper (it really gives me peace of mind when out and about), although it can really slow access (compared to a sling bag type arrangement). The all weather is the only fault i would have with my bag, but i bought a separate AW cover (rei) that i just stuff in a side pocket and that has worked just fine (from just walking around to even even on the motorcycle @ triple digits). the aw400 should have that aspect covered. maybe my only fault is that for day-to-day uses it carries too much for a short trip out (with only 1-2 lenses you know you'll need). for that I just bought a backpack dslr padded insert (amazon like ~$20). it's always nice to have a place to "ground" all my stuff when i get home (to keep it away from the dogs/kids/etc).

I use the higher model, the Lowepro Flipside 500 AW, and I absolutely love it.

Its very comfortable to carry, it has plenty space (well not unlimited but enough for any reasonable amount of gear), it allows to change gear quickly and comfortably (close the belt, move the back to the front, open it and you can use it as ideal support for quick lens changes), and it protects your gear very effectively against both bad weather or theft.

If I would be asked what could be improved I would ask to get rid of the stupid front superflous department and rather give some more space in the back. But oh well, for the moment I just keep that department empty.

Theres also a possiblity to carry a tripod, but I dont use tripods.

All in all, the only thing I really want is a second 500 AW so I have a spare if something happends to the first one.

Ha. Why do you need a link to the darn thing, so you can read a review and recycle to the op from the internet, bravo. I would assume that the OP wants an opinion from an actual owner and that if they are posting here they probably can use google--

To OP.The bag in question is a good value bag that can comfortably hold a dslr and 4 or 5 lenses obviously depending on their size. It can be a squeeze to get in a body with grip or say a canon 1d/nikon d3 but it can be done. The inside is very customizable and their are pockets for batteries and memory cards etc. There is also a waterproof pull out and tripod holder. I like the bag but it opens at the back so it takes abit of getting used to. As the name implies it flips over and you access it. This makes it good for security though. Also your out of luck if you need a laptop compartment, otherwise its a winner

I have one and I LOVE it .. I'm always taking it when we travel and love that it opens in the back which makes the security awesome when in crowded areas.

Unfortunately, the listing states "listing was ended by the seller because the item is no longer available."

Looks like we missed the deal.

I was looking to buy this bag and came across cheap prices on ebay- actually I happend to watchlist the same item link you posted above.
Being a bit dubious about such a good deal I did some googling and came across this thread.
There is some talk on the interwebs of these specific bags on ebay being fake.

ShaneF- have you ever had the chance to compare the one you have to one in a retail shop? Is the quality and materials the same?

Some people say chinese manufacturers are reverse engineering Lowepro bags and producing copies with inferior materials and no quality control. I have my own theory that the official manufacturers for companies like Lowepro carry on producing 'after hours' and sell these on the grey market and cheaper than retail prices.

Thoughts?

I own a Flipside 200 bought from a reputable UK retailer, and am happy with the quality of the bag- considering how it hangs off the waist when accessing the back. Id be really interested to hear your views/ experiences with the bag you bought from ebay ShaneF.
Carrying a bigger bag with more gear- Im just looking for some reassurance before I pull the trigger!

Thanks!
