Macro Help!

Hi guys,I got a Nikon j1 for Christmas, I've taken a bunch of photography classes in high school but I'm still an amateur!Anyway I like macro shots a lot and taking pictures of my reef fish tanks. http://www.amazon.com/Essential-Mirrorless-Digital-30-110mm-UV-CPL-FLD/dp/B005OT2HYYThe above kit is sold from amazon. Do these really do anything good or are they just a waste of money?Thanks!

I have no idea.. if it is any good or not. Do some internet research and find some user reviews... it is only $40 bucks.. and if you don't like it, you could always return it.

I can't get it to focus on things close up, will a lens filter thing help with that?Also I went to the aquarium today, is there a certain trick used to take picture through glass?
