Macro Shots C&C Please!

Took these today. Just some leaves from my yard. Any comments on how I could improve on them?

I would really really like the first if that right side was as crisp as the left. As it is, I just like it.

The second one, meh.

To improve them, maybe have a more contrasting background. Take a picture while holding the leaf in front of a tree so that there is a dark brown background. Or maybe a more vibrant colored background.
