I only ate a couple. I'm no slouch.

Sadly, I didn't need them to slide/fall down a muddy, steep creek embankment on my personal cushion after my stupid gray card. This is why people should shoot in pairs. THAT would have been a nice action shot.

Would you have raised the crop on the berries? Just enough to remove the partial dangler or to remove the OOF bit of leaf in the lower left? (I like that leaf for some reason, could be a no-no?)

I luv #2!
I'm super new so I can only offer a compliment at this point, but I think it is lovely. I really like the depth of field....I wish I could define more but I'm just too fresh just yet!

Yeah the cut off berries on the left and bottom just aren't cool IMO
I like the mushrooms but I think I'd have tried to get all (or more) of them in focus.

^ I disagree, I totally love the shot the way it is. Maybe crop off some of the top though, that'd be my only thing.

Here's what I see: Mama/Papa Mushroom and baby mushroom and the baby is nuzzling up against it. I think it'd be a cool print imo, or a good Mother's Day greeting card lol

Unicorn farts?

Not trying to offend here, but you probably won't get many clients, if that's what you're eventually going to aim for.

I can see it now...

"Jess, who shot your wedding?"

"Oh, the wedding photos were done by Unicorn Farts Photography."

"......"

Tyler, he said in another thread that it's not a serious name. It's goofy enough for him to guard his work, but not take it seriously, in a professional sense.

I think it's hilarious lol.

Ah, I missed that thread. :greenpbl:

Thanks a ton! :)

I too like #2 just the way it is as well. Very nice shot. :)

Thank you. :) It's the best of the series, I think... the other two shots aren't quite as nice.

Yeah, no, I'm not at all a professional yet; I've only had my DSLR for a couple of weeks. You're right, I can't imagine the name drawing anyone who doesn't share my sense of humor! I was hoping the goofy name would cancel out the pretentiousness of creating a FB fan page as a rank ammy (or of watermarking photos at all, hah).

If I ever "go pro" I'll change the name. Y'know, probably.

*she. No reason anyone here would know that! You're right. I don't want anyone who stumbles across my FB thinking it's at all serious right now. This is what the info blurb for the page says:

Follow along as I blunder through the beginning of my "SERIOUS! fotographie" career, sucking hard and laughing at myself all the way home. Alcohol recommended (no, really, it improves the pictures; those of you with the appropriate prescriptions might try adding hallucinogenic drugs).

Shooting with my beloved Ilene, a Canon T2i, and assorted eBay and Walmart brand filters, props, and tripod. Y'know, like everybody.

Tips and critiques are ALWAYS welcome, whether from actual photographers, enthusiasts or your friend's grandma! Don't worry, I won't be charging for anything I do until the internet gives me the go-ahead.

^ I disagree. For my taste, the mushroom shot has DOF that is way to shallow.

To make the shot the way I envision it, would require using 300 mm for the focal length.

I think to often people use way to short a focal length to do shallow DOF shots, but because fast nifty-fifty lenses can be had cheap that's what often gets used, even when 50 mm is way to short a focal length for the shot.

I'll have to revisit this one when I've expanded my lens collection (which at the moment consists of the one kit lens, eek, embarrassing!). I've got zero lens knowledge in my bag right now- I'm glad you brought up lenses, they're something I need to do some reading on! :) KmH, could you show me something that illustrates what your ideal DOF would be for a shot like that?

Having the entire foreground in focus, as well as the furthest mushroom, is what I would strive for.

Oh! Gotcha. Sorry, I'm easily confused. I'll go and piddle around with it another day, see what I can come up with. Thanks!

Honestly, all of this help is making me regret having waited so long to post here. You guys've been awesome.
