Question - why do you call it a "Vertical" battery grip when you attach it horizontally to the bottom of the camera? To me, a "vertical" grip would attach vertically to the (I suppose) right side of the camera.

So you have a vertical shutter release and a grip to hold onto when shooting in vertical ( portrait mode.)
 
I wish that someone would make an affordable, easy to find grip for the Sony a700 that isn't complete crap.... I guess that the price I pay for using old, moldy equipment.
