Making a mothers day card , got idea but no idea to produce the image

Hello,

Trying to make a mothers day card, what I am trying to do is hold my sons feet image them and same for hands, I want this in black and white, but I want everything but my hands and his feet completely blacked out is there some camera trickery to succeed at this?

items to use>
Nikon d5100
nikkor 1.8 35mm
nikkor 18 - 58mm kit lens
Tamron 70 - 300mm vc usd

I know could try and use black cloth but didnt want to have a ugly rag in the image showing creases, but if theres a way to work with that without looking messy open to ideas.

If anyone can suggest how to get this image would be very helpful thanks as bit lost to how to make this work at the moment.

Yes I know a weird card a picture of her grandsons hands and feet with me holding them, but have not seen parents for a couple of years, living in another country so thought would be nice to give something like this.

take the pictures and then mask out the rest that you don't want.

If you are unskilled with processing, I'd be happy to do it for you.
Simple and easy as long as the focus is good.

Very nice offer. I think I've heard of this being done using a very bright light source that overpowers the ambient light, and you then expose for that light source and get what looks like a black background. Am I making this up?

Thank you very much for this offer, if you could do this for me would mean a lot to me as my knowledge in processing is limitd ViewNX 2, I really need to learn how to do processing. I have bought the serif photoplus 5 that do basic curves in but thats as far as I have really got. I do some astrophotography and have really almost perfect image of Orions nebular after all the stacking of images until processing time and I had no idea how to manipulate the features to show off piece in true glory. I am sure one day I will get the hang of processing.

I was considering 2 images one for the front cover this will be the feet and once opened up would be the hands. If this would be fine by you? It most likely will be just feet though as sure i cant pry his hands of what hes grabbing onto.

Is there any thing special I need to have apart from good focus? If this is all I will attempt the images again tomorrow.

I guess the equipment I have wouldnt be up for this challenge and maybe the very bright lights not so good for baby, though he has a fascination with light bulbs!

You can do it easily.
just send me the two pictures and a diagram of how you want them and I'll return them.

I think BW will look better, will get these taken as soon as hes eaten breakfast so can get him while drowsy and less flapping around.
