Making postcards

I've always thought it might be interesting to try making a few postcards with the photographs I've taken to send to friends/relatives. I read a few articles about it and it doesn't seem too difficult.

Only problem is, what printer should I use? I've got a crappy bubblejet colour printer, and I can't find any instructions on printing the postcard. (I'm not even sure if regular home printers let you print on postcard-type cardboard)

I thought about using commercial printers, but they all require a minimum amount of cards (ie. 500-1000). Is there any way of printing postcards on a normal printer?

i believe the lab i use only requires 24 min.
i don't know if that's helpful or not, but at least it's not 500.

use overnightprints.com ... they are great.. postcard sized and get the glossy coating... I use them for my business cards, very nice site.
