Male Ideal- NSFW

A photo inspired by the work of late photographer Alonzo Hanagan, also known as "Lon of New York". He was arrested multiple times between the late 1930's and early 1960's for taking photos of the nude male form that resemble the one I am sharing here. The police, who destroyed much of his body of work, told him that his photographs were "poisoning the minds of the people who viewed them". Well, drink up.

Anyways, I figured since it's not showing any inappropriate body parts and he isn't being sexualized in any way, it would be ok to post it in this forum with a "NSFW" tag on the thread title.

This is such a beautiful render. I appreciate the intimate detail of the human form and that it is melted but separated into an environment. This is a very important image. It plays on our own beauty and gluttony. This image enforces us to consider how we are treating ourselves and the land. This is a valuable image.

Dan, one of your best ever. I love the posture, the background, and also the detail of the chain link bracelet, positioned in such a way that the wrists almost look chained together, in this submissive posture, head bowed. It's quite powerful and beautiful.

Thank you! This is at Rooster Rock State Park in the Columbia River Gorge, near Portland Oregon. What you see is exposed riverbed because this time of year the water is low enough that much of it becomes exposed, however in the next few months the water will begin rising and this area will be underwater again. If you position the camera from a low angle you can create the illusion of a completely dry landscape, even though there is a river flowing to camera left and far behind the model.
