I went back down to the Manatee Viewing Center on a sunny day to find the fish loving up on the treats a young manatee had to offer.

Nice pics! Is that the area near me in AB or the one up north?

Cool. for some reason we don't get those in the central valley. ;)

Nice set. Such gentle things! Had quite a few swim right up to us when we were in Key Largo a few years ago right on the beach behind our hotel. We knew you weren’t supposed to encourage them so we tried to move away but they were following my daughter all around like puppies.

Great set Kirk! :icon_thumleft:

Thanks everyone, appreciate it! Sharon, that's cool, how did your daughter react to it?
Mr_Mac, the pics were taken at the "Apollo Beach Viewing Center" next to the electric plant. There's only the one manatee there right now.

There was as a baby one following her. The larger ones would cruise by every minute or so checking on it. My daughter was about 12 at the time so she thought it was adorable and of course wanted to take it home. It was really cool to see them in the bay like that. There was a dock there and if you poured fresh water down they would swim up and open their mouths for a drink. When we tried out the hotels stand up paddle boards we saw a lot of them in the bay. I want to say it was called Manatee Bay but not sure if that was the official name or just what the hotel called it. It was the Hampton Inn in Key Largo. Really was the highlight of the trip for my daughter- according to her better than swimming with the dolphins which I paid through the nose for!

Those greedy dolphins! lol! I like your story, it put a smile on my face, thanks! If only I could get chickens to follow me into the kitchen like that. :drool2:
