Please let me know what you think on these two. Which do you prefer (if either)? What would you change (if anything)? I really like these but, I can take whatever you can dish, any and all criticism is welcome.

I prefer the second image - the dead tree stands out more and the foreground silhouette adds something.

They are both pretty good, although I would have shot it at a more extreme angle, thus adding to the sense of "mangled"ness

When you say extreme angle, do you mean from the bottom looking up the tree? It's not a difficult location to reach from where I am so any suggestions I'd certainly be willing to give a shot.

I like 1 better. I dont like the crop ratio on the 2nd one. The first one is close to ROT.

Here's an edit of the second image (tried to adhere more closely to the ROT).

And because i didn't like the strange lighting of the first shot, here's an edit of that as well.

I can't tell if my eyes are messing with me or what- but in the small preview pic of number 2 it appears to glow around the tree. Did you merge several images? I'm not seeing it when I open the pic larger so it may just be my view.

Nope, no merging. Could it be the very slight haloing around the tree in #2 that you're picking up on? I actually didn't notice it until now.

All single shots which I then tweaked (b&w conversion, and lighting tweaks to add the dramatic effect, which is probably where the haloing came from).

I honestly still haven't figured out how I'd like to crop the picture, for whatever reason this shot really took me, so much so that I'd really like to print and frame it, but I just can't make up my mind, it'll come soon enough I'm sure.
