I bought this lense - prime 35.
Of course there are no instructions, very aggravating.
I realize there’s no communication between the lense and my Sony 6300. What setting should the camera dial be on ? Do I just set the f stop on my opinion of the scene I am shooting? Then I turn the other dial to focus?
Need some help, thanks.

Yes, basically.

You need to enable whatever focus assist feature is provided in the Sony body - on my Fuji I use a colored focus peaking.

Your metering still works, so use Aperture Priority, set whatever f stop you think is right to give you the right depth of field, and the camera will adjust shutter speed. Auto iso also helps. I don't know if Sony needs any extra settings for a manual lens, but with Fuji you can input focal length and you need to select 'shoot without lens'.

Then focus manually.

It can be tricky at first, but then you realize that auto focus is not as vital as you thought.

Have fun!

Focus from FAR to near..it tends to be faster, and more-accurate.

The focus far to near is an old photojournalest trick. Maximize to onfinity and focus on that then pull back to the composure.
