Good set Kirk! I especially like the close up on the Heron. The grumpy expression on the little duckling in #1 looks like he is being disciplined for doing something wrong.

Nice set, like the in flight shot. :)

Thanks guys! I know most of those pics are out of focus a little, due to using AI Servo when they're not moving. It doesn't seem to want to focus on the eye or where I want so I'll try 'One-Shot AF' instead on my next round of pics. Then there's the noise from the low light. Bad choice of lens, I should've known better, my bad. Thanks for viewing.

I think they are all good, but love the first two. I can’t remember what lens you have? I also struggle with low light, and switch between AI Servo and one shot. I need to be better about a tripod but they are not convenient for most of the wildlife I come across.

Thanks for the compliments. Have you tried using a monopod? They aren't quite as good as a tripod but they do help steady the camera quite a bit and they aren't heavy, mine only weighs like 1 lb. I just keep mine slung over one shoulder with the camera strap and when I want to use it I just extend the legs real quick and I use a 'ball head' with mine. I have to say, I just saw a video where some guy took a great pic @ 1/25, f/5.6, 840mm. I've been following the rule of "doubling you shutter speed according to your focal length" and not getting enough light in many situations so I'm going to try and use low shutter speeds and bigger apertures with my zoom lens on my monopod. I'm 'hoping' the monopod will steady everything well enough at the smaller focal lengths anyway, (200 or less) I guess that depends largely on my steadying skills. I'll let you know how it works, soon.
Btw, my lens is a Tamron SP 150-600mm F/5-6.3 Di VC USD. I should've spent extra and popped for the G2 model. It performs a little better.

I love the heron closeup. That foot is great. My personal preference would be a crop with a little breathing room in front of the beak.
Really good set.

Thanks, much appreciated. Yeah, I got a little too close on that one and left myself no room to adjust in post editing.

Just saw your post above and the results of your monopod. I just need to get going and use mine....

Considering what to add to the next reviews...photography - you can take the most dynamite pictures. Old fashioned vessels and bungalows. The light of the immense sky is staggering, dawn, dusk, blue ocean, blue sky, winged creatures, and wild blossoms, to wrap things up, the bounty of blooms on the shingle from June onwards, continually changing yet constantly a blend of hues. A portion of the plants are unique to this region, and the spot is Site of Special Scientific Interest. The ocean has a propensity for cleaning up intriguing normal natural life, and there are a group of individuals both committee and nearby who ensure any cleaned up refuse is cleared. Angling. You can get Sea Bass from the shoreline. Surfing. Reflection. This is the spot for harmony and quietness. Now and then you are the main individual on the shoreline. Indeed you estimated. I live here.
