Yes. Quite suitably eerie, to me at least. Others might I suppose find it to be tranquil. Very simple composition, and I like that. I like the sparseness of the shot, and the exact framing, and although it might be a small thing, I LOVE the way the hand railings undulate, ever-so-slightly. The fact that the pilings appear to be made from unpeeled birch logs adds a bit of interest too.

This and other piers in the area are on a lake that freezes over completely every winter. To avoid damage to the structures, the village people (not to be confused with the Village People) take the piers down in October and assemble them back again after the thaw, in April I think. This happens every year. When the wood appears too weathered to be used safely for piers, it is recycled by local carpenters and artists into furniture that is sold locally. Quite amusing, if you ask me.
