Don't be discouraged.... this exact shot has been done many times by many.. kinda hard to comment on a composition seen dozens of times.

I would have dropped in more lighting from the side (of your face) to bring more attention to you (the subject) and to lessen the distraction of the cabinets behind you.

They do look underexposed.
