Ahhh! I love meerkats. Adorable; and great composition.
The other one looks too fake. The blackbird's silhouettes seem identical, as if they were traced with a stencil. I really like the background color, though.

The first one is just cute, nothing less but nothing more either .. maybe the DOF is a bit too shallow

I do not share this opionion at all

They are all different. .. of course you cannot see their eyes as it is "just" silhouettes ... but that simplicity to me adds to the image.

The background color is the only fake thing in that photo .. and I removed some branches.
