Bass Rock Gannet

Had a quick stop at Bass Rock, to try and get a few pics of gannets on a recent trip, and managed to snag this one. Not quite sure on the editing of this shot, but I kinda like it with the backlight on the wings. I cropped it to a 2x1 panoramic aspect ratio, though that's probably not everyone's cup of tea.

Nice gannets can be a pain because they can easily over expose.

Thanks, yep they can be. I'd actually mucked up my ISO settings for this one, and left it fixed from shooting in sun around the other side of the rock, which luckily preserved the highlights pretty well, even if a bunch of other shots were very underexposed.

Thanks, there is quite a bit of cropping in this one, as composition was done in post, as I was on a RHIB that was bobbing up and down enough to make shooting at long focal lengths awkward!
