I haven't been able to invest in a better lens yet, so I'm making do with what I have and obviously living with the shortcomings. But I saw this and it just reminded me of being 7 and looking for Cicada shells.

It really should be vertical as the tree is standing, but for some reason I like it better horizontal.

Cicadas are so gross. I keep making comments like this about bugs, and I'm sorry, because bugs are interesting subjects for photography but cicadas really take the cake for yuck factor. I can remember being 4 years old and they were so bad that we had to ride with the windows up in the summer with no A/C in the car. It was like a plague of Moses/Biblical proportions. I don't know if we have them in WY but in Cincinnati where I grew up.... every 17 years its a freakin apocalypse.
