the second shot is when he took off from the post in the first shot. They are so quick that it is really a matter of luck getting them taking off. You watch for the signs, frame it ahead and a bit above cross your fingers. Burst mode but not until he makes that little pre-takeoff twithc they do.

Nice i had one come and land in a tree at my school around 11 a today and it took off around 12:50

Isn't that cool! starting ot get the hang of AF tracking multiple points and AI servo. Pain in the patoot to get it right, but it is starting to pay off.
