So Monday I decided to utilize the day off and go for a hike with my best friend. She's a bit older though, so she had to take a quick nap about halfway through the day to gain some energy back. I seized the opportunity to creep on her...

My problem is this. Because she's all white, she tends to be really blown out when the rest of the image is about the right brightness. I'm new to the whole post-processing part of photography so I'm wondering how to go about fixing this. Is this something that can be easily corrected in lightroom?

Have you tried another metering mode in camera?

Try metering your exposure off of her instead of the background or image as a whole.

Other than that you can try pulling back the highlights/whites in LR

Thanks for the input. I haven't tried that yet. I'll have to give it a go and see if I get better results. Still very much in the learning phases.

You can fix this in LR. Just use a brush with the exposure down a little and paint over your puppy. You should be able to find YouTube tuts on using the adjustment brush in LR.
