Minimalist shot for C & C

I like the texture in the wall, and there's sort of an invitation to figure out which shadow goes with which wire ...

But I would like to see the image straightened a bit, so that the top of the socket is level. But that could change the straightness of the shadow at frame right ... may have to shop it a bit to get both straight, but I think that would be a bit more pleasing for me.

Thanks for the comments! Boy you have a sharp eye, I checked the horizontals before posting, but not closely enough. I knew the verticals were off but dismissed it as perspective distortion. The rotation appears to have fixed both. As near as I can tell it was off by 0.78 degrees. Here's a rotated version:

Your photo reminds me of a bathroom electrical outlet and a cord or two that I photographed back in the early mid-1980's, when I was living in an old house and going to college and studying photography. The outlet itself was a bit crooked, and the walls had slightly irregular plaster and paint. As to the Level Police...there are several LP officers that patrol TPF, willing to cite violators and make on-the-spot corrections, to make examples of the offending parties. I am not one of those officers!

I think it might have been even stronger without the cord plugged into the socket - wouldn't change how the composition works, but might change the mood of the image, not really sure.

This was back in march when I still lived in the 131 year old former one room schoolhouse. This house may not have been crooked, but it sure was haphazardly updated especially the electrical system.

Thanks! That's an interesting idea, I don't always think to change what I'm photographing for the sake of the picture.

I think what drew me to taking this picture initially was the odd angles of shadows and light. The shadow from the outlet cord is the only transverse shadow to the cords and the cord shadows. This shadow also follows the same path as the hard light. I'm not sure if it would still draw the eye towards the socket as strongly without it.

I wish I could reshoot and test out your composition idea just to compare ... hmm .. this could be a flash photography project.

I've never used a snoot before, probably also need a barrier to make the hard line to right of the socket. I might need a smidge of fill for the rest of the scene something like -3EV. Any other suggestions how this could be accomplished with flash(es). I have:

1 SB700
1 Builtin D7100 Flash
1 Umbrella (probably useless for this)
1 light stand
1 Reflector 5 in 1.
