Interesting images. If you are going to get something to light the way, might I suggest a good head lamp. One that has both a high and low beam and a red beam as well. That way you can direct the beam to where you are walking and have both hands free to assist in the navigation or the photography. I would suggest something like this one - TIKKA XP - ACTIVE-headlamps Petzl . I have a similar one - older model - and I find it great for night time photography.
