Hi,
My Aunt loves her GX1 SLR Minolta camera or until it bit the dust. I have a friend who has a SLR Minolta Maxxum 5 camera. Does anyone know if my Aunt's lens will fit the Maxxum body. She bought her camera in 1989, and I think the Maxxum was bought in 2005. I know the Maxxum camera is in excellent condition. No way Auntie is buying a DSLR. I have tried to research it, but cannot find the answers. Appreciate yes or know or were I can to to find the answer. Thank you:)

The newer camera uses Minolta's A-mount, while the older camera likely uses the Minolta SR-mount.

In the late 80's auto focus was being added to virtually all new SLR cameras. Most SLR camera makers redesigned their lens mounts to accommodate the upgrade. Nikon and Pentax were the only 2 SLR camera makers that did not re-design their lens mounts.
