One of my favorite picture of my former cat Misse.
Picture is taken at home with a large handheld flash.

Do you feel that the dark half of the eye etc work?
And the crop?

C&C per request:

Though not typical in pet portraiture, I don't have a problem with the drastic side lighting. I almost wish that the lighting had been even more from the side - the lack of catch light in the far eye is accentuated by the large catch light in the near eye.

I like the off center crop, your cat clearly seems to be looking into the frame. However, it is a touch too tight on the left. Had it been just enough wider to not crop the ear that side of the image wouldn't seem so claustrophobic.

The crop was a bit accidental and chasing a cat with a 4 kilo camera equipment handheld wasn't the easiest

But I too would like to have the full ear in frame.

I agree and understand why the point of focus is on the whiskers, not the eyes. Beside that this pic seems to be out of your character.
Nicely processed TMX, what your secret ?
