Mistaken Identity

[baturn]

Last evening, whilst enjoying an after dinner glass of wine in the backyard I wondered why this Yellow warbler(?) was visiting the hummer feeders ( I thought they ate bugs and berries ).
Turns out this is an Orange Crowned Warbler ( see #1 ) and while they do eat bugs and berries, they also enjoy a sip of nectar from time to time.
Who knew?

Pretty cool. Observing the behavior is part of the fun

Love the first shot. The nectar seems to be empty and the Warbler is turning it's head as to say "Baturn, where the heck is the NECTAR man????"

Very nice!

Good stuff. We have a finch that partakes of the hummers' nectar. The hummers here are very territorial and aggressively protect their watering hole. When the finch shows up ... they are totally baffled as how to intimidate the interloper. Quite amusing.
