I've noticed some jumpers around the house lately so need to really start using the Sony 100mm f2.8 with them.

How did you shoot the #4 the fly eyes?

Here is my take
#1 - nice composition, it is true that focus could be improved, and it could be cropped a little bit closer
#2 - I love how the light makes you see the transparency of this insect
#3 - Very nice, my favorite
#4 - see above, do you have extension tubes?
#5 - Too out of fucus but it is hard to achieve on these moving insects

I love macro too, will certainly see you around! looking forward to more of your shots!

#2 is fantastic. Nailed the composition/lighting/focus.

#1 and #5 are just too soft/out of focus for my liking. #1 might also benefit from cropping

Yes I like 2 and 4 myself, all were shot using a Sony 18-55mm Lens (F5.6, ISO 800) on stacked Vivitar extension tubes totaling 56mm.

It isn't a very good lens and in the case of the fly the DOF is 0.6mm with this setup.
So considering that I was shooting outside in the afternoon sun in the wind with no tripod, and no flash, its not to bad.
The trick is I get near my prey (spider/fly), frame up the shot, get in focus, mash the high speed shutter (10fps) and rock in and out for approx 20 shots, at least one is usually in focus.
If the insect is still there after all that noise I repeat.

PS The other 315 shots were all out of focus :meh:
