What do you do to get your models comfortable? My client had a lot of personality but when I was directing her on what to do for poses...we were just not clicking and she wasn't getting it. I thought that if I demonstrated AND told her what to do I thought that it would solve the problem....

Contrary to popular belief, there's a RIGHT way to light and pose a model so if he/she doesn't get it...some people aren't meant to be models.
BUT Demo is a good way to go. :)

Good Luck

So whats the RIGHT way? She said shes never done any type of pinup shoots so maybe she was just uncomfortable? She was alot of fun... she was not shy and said she was down for any pose, but when she acted out the poses it was completely not what i was doing or said...

Did anyone ever think of having maybe having some champagne or wine on hand to drink while going over the shots you would like to do? I know you don't want to get anyone drunk......that is definitely not what I'm saying. Just a little to calm the nerves.

No. Definately not. Not after what happened last time.

Like I said it's not to get drunk just to relax the client and maybe bond a little before you get started. It wouldn't hurt to have some strawberries or chocolate to go w/ it....lol Think girly comfort...=) Make sure you also flatter the girl early on in the shoot!! Even if the shots you are getting aren't the best, it's all about making them feel beautiful!!!

It started as a topless shoot with three strippers. The alcohol flowed. Then the alligator got loose. Poor poodle. All the fire department found was his collar. At least this is what the cops said at the emergency room where they dug the bullets outta me. A shoot that got a bit out of hand, I will admit that. So no alcohol at my shoots ever again!

Sounds like the hangover.

Never seen it. Not all of it, but caught about 15 minutes of the movie the other day seems pretty hilarious.

You know, no one said anything about that Goverment Model .45 being full auto. Whoever heard of a monkey knowing how to shoot a gun anyway?

I like to have photos as examples. I find that helps so they can get the bigger picture.

I have heard of this.

I usually pose them like how they pose models in life drawing classes, back when I was in college. The model will give me a "base" pose and I just modify the pose by breaking the body lines down and make them flow. Obviously, it requires the model to at least know how to do a base pose. :D

I did this a while back for a clothing company. Sorry for the retro coloring, the owner wanted it...

Chocolate and strawberries are not a good idea, you don't want pips or chocolate between their teeth
