Everyone is correct, of course...1.8 way to shallow for what you were going for and 1/40 most likely way to shaky without a flash. As for the flash, I agree with the tissue, but you might also be able to actually set your flash to "minus" 1 or 1-1/2 stops or set it to "fill" if you have that option. Then it won't overpower the shot and be a nice "fill" light.

Settings were all wrong, the first best thing was to use flash, second, if you didn't want to use flash you could have set iso to 1600 or even 3200 and it can be easily fixed in post.
