Monarch on the Rio Grande

This little guy showed up while I was walking through the Bosque.

We get Monarchs periodically, but this little one allowed me within a few feet of him/her. The wind was blowing and I was shooting with the Fuji witht eh Nikon 35mm f2.8 PC so there was NO vibration control or auto focus!

Nice set! We are planting our yard with milkweed, their preferred plants. I’m working on building a hummingbird/butterfly garden this year in the back.
