Moonrise over Sawtooth Peak, High Sierra Nevada, California

4th of July, 1990. My friend and I make the grueling ascent up Sawtooth Pass in the High Sierra. We descend the east side of the pass and set up camp by Columbine Lake, in the shadow of Sawtooth Peak. As the sun sets in the west, the moon rises in the east. We were humbled by nature's awesome display.

Beutiful! Can't imagine how big it was in person, the moon is small, so you were using a wide lens.
