More Natural Light Experimenting (NSFW maybe, probably not but yeah maybe)

More exploration of natural light. I like the organic-ness of nat. light but it's frustrating being locked into specific backgrounds because of the light (or lack thereof.) Probably not something I could pull off consistently but fun to try out nonetheless.

And yes, the expressions and positioning range from bored to drunk/high. I'm still terrible at directing - just so, so terrible.

The last one for me.

He looks a bit uncomfortable in front of the camera, you're a bit uncomfortable to direct (as you already said) and it shows (of course this is jmho, others will tell more).
In the last one I finally get to see him.

He's an interesting subject and if I were you, I would photograph him more

Oh he's comfortable in front of the camera. He doesn't squirm or get nervous. He's just not a "natural." He's really good at following direction but not so good at just doing his own thing. And since I'm bad at giving direction, he looks very awkward lol

Yes definitely the last one...it has the natural look. I like the lighting in #1 though. I wish I have your luck in models. But I am working on it...

For me, what's making or breaking the photo is the way the ambient light is hitting your model. It works in the first one because it's evident that he's looking out into the world. It also works in the last one because the bright spots are incidental and don't interfere with his image. It doesn't work in the two middle one's because the spot right on his eye is too cartoonish. They're so precisely centered that it's obviously intentional, and that detracts from what should be the subject.

BTW - I detect a lot of Patrick Stewart in him.
