More 'Spicy' model shots ... with guitar

None of the shots with the guitar work for me.
Her Smile in all the photos look fake and forced and she looks like she really doesn't want to be there or knows what to do with the guitar, or was just uncomfortable with the shoot.

Did you edit her teeth in #5? If not, that's her best side for smiling photo.

She must be a tiny little thing for that guitar to look that big on her. Did you look in the case for a strap? That and a 37 second tutorial on how to hold it might have made worlds of difference for those shots.

Does anyone use tethering when they do shoots like this? I saw a video on it, pulled out the disc that came with the camera and there was a remote shooting program on it. Bought a USB extention cable from Radio Shack and love the way it makes a session easier!

If you haven't done it, it's awesome! Both you and the subject can see the shots come up on the computer/laptop right when you take them. Makes adjustments a lot easier to see and gives the subject a little more confidence. I'm glad I came across this and thought I'd toss that out there. Much better than looking into that 3" window for an hour trying to look at light and focusing issues.

I am considering it but wireless so I don't pull the computer of the table.:er:

was my concern too, but I bought a six-foot usb extention and after stepping on it a couple times got used to it. always a chance of forgetting and pulling it off the table but if you're careful, it's an awesome way to shoot and so convenient. Check for shadows, hair lights, and little things is impossible (for me) via the camera back. Helps me know I've got the shot I want with lighting, focus, etc in place so can move on to the next.

wireless is def the next step.

My concern is when using it people might think thats the final product since I shoot raw. I would think that those in portrait studios that immediately display the shots afterwards probably shoot in jpeg. But nevertheless I do see me taking the shots and being able to delete the bad ones at the time then reviewing the decent ones with the client for further editing and purchasing.

ill have to look into that. might be nice to just have the laptop righ there to hook into like you said just to give a better image then the small screen.

i think as said and i think u mentioned looking for the strap or it didnt match up. that if she just had a strap on the guitar it would probalby do wonders for her.
