More Spring Flowers

Oh Joel what delicious colours! Great set!

Two small things. In the second one the light green leaf really draws my attention away from the beautiful rich colour of the flowers, perhaps a shorter crop?
The fourth I'm iffy on the crop also, almost feel like I want to move my head to the right to get a better look at it and not sure that much of the stems on the left really add anything.

But again, LOVE the colours! Very well done :)

Good work!!

Send in more.

I was never into flower photos in my previous life of picture making. But took up an interest in it recently. Have been out a few times this week shooting flowers and each time I noticed it is a relaxing, enjoyable and can yield a zen-like meditative state.

It is similar to other movement based meditative activities I enjoy such as mountain biking, skating, skiing, swimming, scuba diving and climbing. And although nature photography may not be as physically demanding as the foregoing sports. Photographing flowers can still get you into some yoga like positions. Especially if you have no right angle finder!

Now, not all areas of mind concentration yield relaxation. While the forgoing areas concentrate you mind, they can also relax it. I can't say the same for paying bill, doing taxes, bumper to bumper traffic or dealing with deadbeat workers. Such areas concentrate my mind as well, but they also burn my ulcer and are far from relaxing. So activities for me can be lumped into 2 camps. Ulcer relaxing or ulcer burning. Photography is ulcer relaxing for me.

Hope you try getting back to basics with nature while practicing your pix taking...

PB, Thanks for your positive CC. I see your point about that big leaf, and I was up in the air about it. As for pic 4, I really mentally struggled with which angle to take this Lily at. I was just so tired of the typical side angle featuring the long trumpet. Guess I just over did it.

Slackercruster, Have no fear. I must have 3 or 4 different threads from this one trip. And yes, I love taking florals of all kinds. It's my favorite area of photography. As you said, it has a Zen like quality to it. I find it so relaxing, yet stimulating at the same time. Flowers don't move (except in the wind), don't hide, you can do wide angle, regular, close up, and macro pictures of the same plant, and just have a grand time. There are no worries about scaring them, or the need for a super tele lens, as you just walk right up, and get personal with them. And when these old bones get tired, I just sit for a minutes and marvel at the beauty and color of Mother nature.
