Not really sure I can see how that actually "works" to diffuse light really.
Diffusion happens when you increase the size of the light source relative to the subject; this kind of might do that but it doesn't look very conventional. I'd be interested to see results, but its not a design approach that instantly fills me with confidence.

The AK Diffuser is one I saw recently and whilst its certainly not cheap, the examples for it are very interesting to see and certainly show that its working to diffuse and smooth out the light generated by flash.
