Love the expression.
His pose makes him look like he wants nothing to do with being photographed. That's not a negative, just an observation. I think it's a plus actually.

I'm not sure why you shot at f/13. You have a flash, a great camera, and a fast lens and the photo looks very soft in the face. Diffraction kicking in? Did you use a tripod? The forearms seem more sharp, so maybe missed focus?

The background curtain and bedspread(?) are distracting, for me anyway. Again, a more open aperture might have made these less noticeable/distracting perhaps? Maybe just me.

The lighting seems a little hot on the forehead. A wider aperture might have allowed for less flash being needed.

I think there is a lot of potential. Just not sure why f/13. Diffraction kicks in at f/8 on the D850 I believe. And why use an f/1.4 lens if you are going to shoot at f/13.
