Well, this morning my house was about 60 degrees, I go ahead and get up and roll into a hot shower. About halfway through when I'm not even moving, just letting the water fall onto me, my back starts to tweak and twitch for a faction of a second, a pain shoots across my rib cage and I just collapse. I'm laying in the shower unable to get up for about 5 minutes while I try to figure out how to move without feeling as if my torso is going to fall apart inside of me. After about 15 minutes, I manage to crawl out, put some pants on and lay in the middle of the floor just wondering to myself, "I wonder if I can still make it to work..." About a half hour of just laying on the floor, partially because I was stuck there, I manage to grab the phone to call in and tell them I'm not making it.

While I'm talking to the people at work, it hurts to breathe and I just start laughing and thinking to myself "What the hell is going on here..." So here I sit, extremely uncomfortable, managed to slowly start walking again after about 8 hours, got somebody on their way to take me to the hospital. My best guess is I've got the worlds biggest back cramp. There's no pain shooting down my arms, no numbness, no nothing, however I cannot for the life of me get my back to relax. This is happening just under my ribcage, what feels like a 3 inch strip that stretches from side to side of my whole torso is what I can only describe as an extremely painful soreness.

NOW, the real question is, how full of it will the guys at work think I am considering I just put in my 2 week notice... Hopefully this is gone by the 1st, I'm supposed to be moving in to my new place about 150 miles east!

Got back from the doc and wooooOOOOooooooo Muscle relaxers... The pain meds are an option he said, I think I'll skip on those...

Sounds like you had a back spasm.
I would take the meds as prescribed...this spasm can come and go, the sooner you let it heal the better off you may be. Those meds and TIME are the only way it will heal.

This is a sign of stress or other ailments. My suggestion is to see a back specialist. This way you can get a stretching program in order to help alleviate this in the future. I know about it, it happened to me twice while I was going through my daughter's cancer episode.
I also go to a Massage Therapist - the best medicine by far. ;)

Good luck, I know exactly how excruiating the pain can be, paralyzing one for hours, if not days.
