I really love these shots. I visited South Africa many years ago before I was into photography and am desperate to get back there for some photos. I find the African landscape, including Kenya lends itself to so much atmosphere in photography.
Most of your photos, to be honest have some focus issues but the composition in general is very good. I can see what you intended for most of them. There are some that have some great potential though! I hope you don't mind but it says editing your photos is OK, so I took my 3 favourites from your shots and had a little play.
If you would prefer them to be removed, of course, please say so.
For this first one I adjusted the levels and contrast, toned down the vibrance but increased the overall saturation. Slightly increased the oranges and added a moody fake vignette using the gradient tool with the opacity at about 30%, then I created the 16:9 letterbox bars to give it a kind of cinematic feel:
For this one I again adjusted levels and contrast. I also removed the Gnu with the head cut off on the left and removed the Gazelle from the right hand side as he didn't look right! I also converted to black and white, adjusted the colours to bring out the browns and greens; the earthy colours. I then made the B&W into sepia and reduced the whole B&W/sepia conversion to 30% opacity, so it's basically back to colour, but with an enhancement on the earthy colours:
For the last one I again adjusted levels and contrast, then I desaturated it slightly to give a colder mood to the shot whilst actually increasing the saturation of the blood red. I also slightly blurred the top and bottom to feign a DOF effect and added a fake vignette with the gradient tool at 20% which focuses the eyes on the Cheetahs instead of the busy grass:
I'm not suggesting you do this kind of thing to all your photos, but when I saw these three I just visualised them this way! I hope you like them!
