My Bigma OS is here!

I have been saving for this thing for nearly a year and a bunch of OT at work finally put me over the top! I have been waiting nervously for it to arrive and today it finally came. Unfortunately it came while I was at work and it was dark by the time I got home so I haven't been able to put it through its paces yet. I do know that it is not among the lot that was part of the AF recall a while back and it seems to focus very quickly on static objects in relativity low light. I will try my best to get out and get some good daytime shots tomorrow before heading into work. I will keep you guys posted.

Back from vacation ('holiday' for you folks across the pond ) Here are some shots with my Sigma 50-500mm from my train ride on the Cass Scenic Railroads. These were all shot hand held with OS, have not been sharpened and had only minor adjustments made to exposure, contrast, ect... Keep in mind that these were shot from a moving train. It was only going about 6 mph but the train in nearly 100 years old so it's not the smoothest ride out there.

Here are a few from the various stops we made, one of which is one of the tallest points in the state of West Virginia. As with the others these were shot hand held with OS, no sharpening and minimal, if any, other alterations.

Last but not least, here are some low light shots. These are from Smoke Hole Cavern in West Virginia. All of these are hand held with OS and no sharpening and no flash. I did have to push the exposure a bit in post but gimme a break, I was in a freak'n cavern! The only illumination was from some incandescent bulbs they used to provide a small amount of ambient light and to highlight some of the caverns more interesting features. Thus far I am quite impressed with this lens. If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask.

Thanks, so far it's worth every penny I spent on it. The focus seems fast and accurate, the focus ring is smooth but a little stiff (this may change with more use). The lens is big and heavy, this is to be expected but I was using it hand held for several hours straight for two days and had little trouble with it. As for performance, the pics speak for themselves.
