As most of you know I shoot nikon. My good friend Tony Nothrup puts reviews on Youtube. He has a 5dm3, 7d and the new 70D. So I got to play with them all one morning (along with a 400 F5.6, 500 F4 and a 100-400. It's really goofy, but I have the hardest time with the placement of the shutter button on Canons. It's probably only a few mm different... Anyways my little cameo is around the 30:30 mark I think. I wasn't as nervous this time.. So if anyone wants to see a Nikon users opinion about Canon and the new video AF on the 70D here ya go...

On a side note a tried a friends D7000 a few days ago, but I have no plans on switching from my D300 for all that asked :)

Another good video Kris. I like that there does not seem to be a hidden agenda or bias.

Thanks! I have no bias. I think cameras are just a tool... I still think for the most part the 7d and the D300 are basically on par.. people can argue about 1/6 stops.. blah blah blah... lol.. If Sony. pentax or someone else releases a camera tomorrow that I think is better suited for what I shoot, I would certainly consider switching..

Good points and fair.

My wife recently purchased the 70d. It is a nice upgrade from the T3I primarily for the better AF modes and the crosstype focus points. We had been considering the 7d, but I kept telling her the difference in weight/build quality my become an issue. Nice to see the lady in the video bring up that point along with her hands being smaller.

I laughed when Tony mentioned the difficulty in "Filling The Frame"!

Too bad the audio was horrible in your interview. It's interesting that something has small as the shutter release button would be a difficult adjustment.

The main guy seems very likable.

Next time get him to mic you guys, or get out of the wind!

I borrowed a canon 5d mk2 and I hated every aspect of the button layout. That center command dial is just awful.

Stop glancing off the the side, Kris! Makes you look shifty-eyed!

LOL, did you notice the huge disclaimer in red? It said "People requested audio with the 70D and on camera shotgun mic. I know it sucks".. It's just strange, the front command dial is behind the shutter button as opposed to in front like the nikon. I have 100K clicks on my camera in the 15 months so I guess my finger is just programmed. I'm sure I would get used to it if that was all I shot...

I don't think it's good or bad, it's just very different... When Tony picked up my D300, he thought it was strange also.. It's just what you get used to...

LOL, I am shifty eyed :) I think it was an improvement over my first video :) baby steps....

Wow. When worlds collide. Tony and I were friends way back when. Awesome to see he's still doing his thing. Congrats on the cameo.
