My first attempt at black+white

Yesterday I did my first ever whole b+w shoot. Im rather impressed as I thought they would look dull and im a colour girl. Anyone have any tips? I need to edit them all and want to know how to make them even better.

With regards to these two example photos, I don't think they need anything more, they look good as they are (to me). Nice tonality and strong contrasts. Whites are really white and blacks are really black and everything in between looks like it's still got good detail, too (hard to tell with pictures this small). Therefore it seems like you know what you're doing, even if/when you "go b&w".

The only little thing I'm not so sure about is the bright spot in the top right corner of the second photo: being so bright, it actively pulls the eyes! A crop down to the mere roots of that large tree might help.
