My first attempt at lightning...

I shot this from my balcony during last night's storm. I'm always really impressed by storm photography that I see on this site, so if anyone has any suggestions on improving this, I'm interested.

I love storm shots too. There's nothing more dramatic that clouds, lightning and such. In this shot, the crop seems a little off somehow, especially at the bottom of the shot. I would say to either show the foreground or don't, but don't crop half of it away. Also, there are some strange blotches around the power pole area that are distracting to the eye. Maybe try a little different edit to see if it can be cleaned up. You're definitely on the right track here! Well done!
