Very nice. I would love to photograph an Owl in the wild.

Nice capture! I'm still working on my first owl. I never see them around here but I know they're here. I need to read up on their behaviors to see one maybe.

Great image.

It's always nice when you get a good presentation with a lifer.

Very nice!

Nice shot. I'm still looking for mine.

Thanks to everyone for your kind comments. Very much appreciated! :02.47-tranquillity:
This was a quick posting but I wasn't really satisfied with the processing done on the raw image, which resulted in the photo above. So I took my time with a different editing/processing software last night and came up with the image below.

You should consider cropping it to a portrait instead of landscape. You could make the owl bigger in the photo that way.

Hoooooooooooo you lookin' at????

;)

Very nice!

Thanks! I couldn't decide whether to post a "like" or a "funny" icon since the forum software only allows one. So here is both - :icon_thumleft: :biglaugh:

Great capture! I love Barred Owls and have yet to see one in the wild.

Thanks! There is a little story behind this capture.

As with a lot of my "first time" images, this capture was a chance encounter. I was on an old country road coming up a rise when ahead of me I spotted this really large bird fly up out of the ditch and land on a fense post. His wingspan must have been a couple of feet or more. I slowed down and grabbed my camera when I recognized it was an owl. The sun was about fifteen degrees to the right at about 4 o'clock in the afternoon (bad for exposure) but then a truck coming the other way scared the owl further into the woods. Without even looking at my camera's setting I drove up, zoomed out and started cranking off shots. (Nikon D500 at 9 frames per second) His back was toward me at first but then he turned, looked at me (I guess he heard the sound of the shutter), stared straight at me and flew off further down into the woods.

You should consider cropping it to a portrait instead of landscape. You could make the owl bigger in the photo that way.

Here is a 8x10 format. Thanks @Scott Whaley. Good eye! I do like this better.
